Feasibility Study

KFDE conducted a Feasibility Study of an existing historical building to determine the structural integrity of the building as well as any retrofit that may be required for accessibility and HVAC improvements to convert this building for administrative use. The services included:
  • Conduct a structural evaluation to determine necessary retrofit to bring the building into compliance with seismic design standards.
  • Determine the type of HVAC system needed for administrative office occupancy.
  • Evaluate how to provide accessibility to the first floor only.
  • Determine historical review requirements and provide necessary documentation to obtain preliminary approvals from the appropriate agencies.
Following our multi-disciplinary team evaluation, we provided our client with realistic recommendations addressing the issues that should be considered as well as budgetary costs to convert this early 1900’s building into administrative space.
