Codes often change and ADA compliance is essential. We are commonly upgrading restrooms for compliance and, in this case, our client asked us to review all restrooms at their facility to determine compliance and recommended upgrades. We started with a survey of all existing restrooms to identify frequency of use by visitors and staff, adequacy of existing exhaust and lighting, and ADA compliance.
We presented our client with our recommendations which includes a list, by priority, of the restrooms to be upgraded and the approximate construction budget for each. In collaboration with our client, we created design documents covering the following:
- Modifications were made to improve the restroom exhaust systems.
- New, energy efficient, plumbing fixtures were specified for water closets, urinals, and lavatories.
- Design of energy efficient lighting was included to improve the overall appearance of the restroom as well as reduce energy costs.
