Training Simulator

This fast-track project required precision design. The US Army had contracted for a state-of-the-art training simulator with plans for a West Coast installation. However, the facility selected to house this equipment required significant renovation to meet the precise simulator specifications. Working with government personnel, we carefully assessed the building, identified the work to be done and set out to complete the design within eight weeks.

The architectural work focused on creating a raised floor system to accommodate all the underfloor cabling that would be required and provided the necessary supports for the simulator. A new heating a cooling system was required consisting of a VAV system with DDC temperature controls, and plumbing was included for new restrooms. A completely new electrical service was needed consisting of new transformers, panelboards and power throughout. We also had to carefully plan and select appropriate lighting to avoid interference with the simulator and its projections.

This project was a complete success. The training simulator fit perfectly within the built parameters we designed, all associated utilities met with the precise specifications, and the U.S. Army accomplished the installation within their very tight timeline.
