Facility Assessments, Life Safety Improvements

This project included comprehensive design solutions for the 80 year old building. Under strict security constraints, we provided basic life-safety improvements throughout the facility including exiting, alarm systems, fire protection systems, and HVAC upgrades. Two interior projects included re-design of a conference room and rehabilitation of a fire rated exit vestibule for future use as a visitors tour gift counter. Challenges included concealing back-of house electrical equipment and data rooms while creating a polished look for the visitor’s vestibule. Special features included:

  • HVAC upgrades within tight courtyard and roof space.
  • Replacement of historic steel sash windows.
  • Life/Safety systems assessments and upgrades.
  • Stair smoke evacuation systems.
